Causes for Appendicitis
The main cause of appendicitis are the feces which blocks the inside of the appendix. There is no specific reason known of why there is inflammation, but bacterial or viral infections in the digestive tract may lead to swelling of lymph nodes, which causes appendicitis. This swelling of lymph nodes is known as lymphoid hyperplasia. Another main cause is due to the presence of excessive amount of poisonous waste material in caecum (a part of large intestine)Appendicitis occurs by the presence of an excessive amount of poisonous waste material in the caecum. By this way, the appendix gets inflamed. The inflammation and infection occurs due to the presence of certain germs in the intestinal tract. Appendicitis may also lead to complete blockage of the intestine. Blockage occurs when the inflammation surrounding the appendix causes the intestinal muscle to stop working which may prevent intestinal contents from passing. And if the intestine above the blockage starts to fill with liquid or gas, there is a swelling seen in the abdomen and the person may have nausea and vomiting. Now in this condition it becomes very much essential to drain all the waste contents of the intestine through a tube passed through the nose and esophagus and into the stomach and intestine.
