Asthma is a life-threatening chronic disease of the respiratory system and very common among children and adults. Asthmatic attacks can start at any age.
It is a disease that affects the airways (airways are tubes) that carry air in and out of your lungs causing difficulty in breathing, if not properly managed. It is well known as paroxysmal attacks of bronchospasm, in this situation the inside walls of your tubes get swollen or narrower and your lungs get less air. Most people with asthma are trying to control it so that they have few symptoms and can live active lives.
