Consult your doctor if you are suffering from this disorder. The treatment of bruxism depends on its cause. Some of treatments available for bruxism or teeth grinding, based on its causes are: Stress: If your teeth grinding habits are because of stress then it can be treated using psychotherapy, proper counseling and bio-feed exercises. Ask your doctor or dentist about these therapies. Your dentist can also prescribe you some drugs or medicines that can reduce pain in gums and jaws that occur because of clenching of teeth. If you are not responding well to these medicines then your dentist can also think of oral surgery in which botulinum toxin injections are directly injected in the jaw or teeth muscles. Dental Problems: If your clenching habits are because of any kind of tooth disorders then your dentist chooses occlusal therapy for the treatment. In this therapy proper alignment of teeth is done which is the main cause of teeth grinding. If damage to teeth has occurred because of this habit then dentists generally choose the onlay or the crown therapy to reshape the biting and damaged teeth. Brain Injury: If you are suffering from teeth grinding or bruxism because of any neuromuscular illness or brain injury then it is very difficult to treat. Botulinum toxin injections are helpful in this case but cannot treat the problem with a guaranty.
