Signs and Symptoms of Cirrhosis

Some of the Common Symptoms of Cirrhosis are:

  • Exhaustion.
  • Weakness.
  • Fatigue.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Muscle loss.
  • Vomiting blood.
  • Confusion.
  • Nausea.
  • Impotence and loss of interest in sex.
  • Redness of palms.
  • Bleeding hemorrhoids.
  • Abnormal Nerve function.

Other symptoms are given below:

  • Jaundice: This is a disease in which yellowing of the skin and eyes is seen due to the failure of the liver.
  • Nail changes: The shape, size and appearance of the nails may change while the patient is suffering from cirrhosis.
  • Fluid Retention: This is common at some stage in cirrhosis. In this case fluid gathers in the legs or in the abdomen.
  • Enlargement of Breasts in Women, and Shrinking of Testes in Men: The liver destroys the female sex hormones and in cirrhosis these accumulate and cause enlargement of the breasts and shrinking of the testes in men.
