Definition:

Corns is defined as a thickened layer of skin caused by repeated pressure or friction. Corns are much like calluses but usually occur on the top of the toes or fingers. Corns are sometimes associated with bursae which can become irritated. It is usually painful and troublesome.

It can be painful when pressed on the surrounding area of corns, which may become red and inflamed. Corns if the thickening of the epidermis at some point by friction.

Calluses may further lead to other problems such as a serious infection. Corns are usually more common in women than men. This is because, women wear tight fitting shoes, socks and stockings more often than men.
