Medical Treatments If the child is suffering from Candida infection in the diaper region then doctors recommend antifungal creams and medicines. If the child is suffering from bacterial infection in diaper area then dermatologists generally suggests antibiotics. Mild steroid creams and ointment are suggested if rash occurs because of the fungus. Side Effects of Diaper Rash TreatmentThere are no side effects of self care diaper rash treatment as changing of diaper at regular intervals causes no harm to the infant's skin. But there are some side effects of the medical treatment. If you are using talcum powder to avoid diaper rash then you need to take care that it should be used in small quantity because your child can inhale the powder which can be very dangerous for his health. If you are using ointments and cortisone creams then use an optimum quantity of these creams because excess can give rise to more rashes. Hydrocortisone creams can make the skin of genital area thin. If antibiotics are used for the treatment of diaper rash then it can cause problems such as indigestion and some skin allergies to the infant. If you notice any of these side effects then you need to consult a doctor.
