Causes for Diarrhoea
Diarrhoea is mainly caused by bacteria or viruses that have been transmitted from one person to other. It is due to this reason only, it is very important to wash your hands with soap and water nicely after using the toilet. Diarrhoea occurs when the micro-organisms irritate the mucous membrane of the small or large intestine resulting in an abnormally large quantity of water in the motions. Some important Causes for Diarrhoea includes:1. Infections: The most common causes of acute diarrhoea are infectious agents (mainly bacteria or viruses). "Food poisoning" is a term often used to describe infectious diarrhoea. This occurs when bacteria are transmitted by the "faecal-oral" route. A bacterium called Campylobacter Jejuni is the most common cause of food poisoning. 2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is another common cause of diarrhoea and can be very difficult to treat. A person suffering with IBS will have alternating constipation and diarrhoea, but the disease can also be accompanied with abdominal pain. 3. Medications: Every person has its own body language and strength, some medications suit to some persons and may not suit to the other. So some medicines may cause diarrhoea to a person as a side effect. Antibiotics may also cause diarrhoea, either as a direct effect on the intestine. Overuse of laxatives can also cause diarrhoea.
