High Blood Pressure or HypertensionHypertension Menu
DefinationBlood pressure is a measurement of the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. The pressure is noticed by amount of blood pumped by the heart and the force of the blood. If there is artery disorder ( like arteriosclerosis due to hardening of the arteries or deposition of fat in their insides), then arteries are unable to contain the amount of blood that is necessary for a normal functioning of its circulation throughout the veins, result is that the heart starts working extra to maintain the normal amount of blood. In this process, it pumps with greater vigour and leads to high blood pressure. High blood pressure can occur in adults or children, but it is more common among the adults who are over age 40. If it is ignored, it may increases the risk of CAD (coronary heart disease) which leads to heart attack. Diabetics are liable to suffer from high blood pressure due to arterio sclerosis and ultimately, it may damage their retina as a consequence. Similarly patients with renal and cardiac problems must not be complacement, they should arrange for proper monitoring of their B.P., at regular intervals.
