Causes for Insomnia
There are many causes of insomnia. Certain conditions may make insomnia more likely to occur in a person - like if a person is old they are likely to suffer from insomnia, females are more likely to suffer or person having a history of depression are more succeptible to this disease.
Other Possible Causes of Insomnia:
- Excessive napping during the day time is a very common cause of insomnia in most of the people.
- Periodic limb movement disorder, the recurring movements of the legs.
- Environmental Factors - Environmental factors like - Noise, Light and Stale air can cause insomnia to occur.
- Excessive use of certain substances like - Caffeine, Alcohol, and Nicotine.
- Stress, such as sadness caused by the loss of a loved one or a job.
- Medical Conditions - Among the many medical problems that can cause insomnia are allergies, arthritis, heart disease, hypertension, asthma, rheumatologic conditions, hyperthyroidism etc.
- Changes in one's sleep patterns, as when one's job shift has been changed - can also lead to insomnia.
- Breathing problems, such as snoring.
- Emotional Disorders - Emotional disorders that most often cause insomnia are chronic anxiety, depression, and bipolar (manic) depression.
- Extreme Temperatures - too hot or too cold - are another factors for insomnia.
- Changes in your Surrounding Environment.
- Worried about not being able to sleep, can itself cause insomnia.
