Warts - Introduction
Definition:Warts are small, benign (harmless) growths caused by a viral infection. They occur on the skin or the mucous membrane. The mucous membrane is tissue that lines the nose, throat, digestive tract, and other body openings. Warts can be transmitted from one person to another and they can travel from one part of the body to another. Warts occur most commonly among children, young adults, and women. Warts are harmless skin growths caused by a virus. They have a rough surface on which tiny dark specks may be seen. Warts in the genital or rectal area have a wet appearance and have been said to look like cauliflower. Types Of WartsCommon warts, can appear anywhere on your body but most often on your hands. Flat warts, smaller and smoother, appear in clusters on the backs of your hands, face or legs. Plantar warts, appear on the plantar, or bottom surface, of your foot. Filiform warts, form long, finger-like profileions around your eyelids, face and neck.
